Announcement from ICNIRS for the 19th International Conference (NIRS 2019), Gold Coast, Australia

Mui Saranwong, Honorary Secretary, ICNIRS

With the upcoming International Conference of Near Infrared Spectroscopy to be held at Gold Coast, Australia during 15-20 September 2019 (NIR-2019), the International Council for Near Infrared Spectroscopy (ICNIRS) has following announcements.

Call for Tomas Hirschfeld Award Nomination - CLOSED

The Tomas Hirschfeld Award (THA) is sponsored by FOSS, Denmark, and is made in recognition of a significant innovative and/or scientific contribution to NIR spectroscopy. It awarded on the basis of excellence in research conducted by a scientist of international standing. The award is open to academic or industrial researchers from any country, with the only restriction that the candidate must not be a direct employee of an instrument company. The award will be presented at the NIR-2019 in Gold Coast, Australia. For more information on nomination guidelines, please visit www.ICNIRS.org.

Nominations must be sent only by email to the President-Elect Søren Balling Engelsen (Email: se@food.ku.dk) to arrive no later than March 20th, 2019.

Late nominations will not be considered for the award.

Call for Karl Norris Award Nomination - CLOSED

The Karl Norris Award (KNA) is made in recognition of a major contribution to the science of NIR spectroscopy, including research and development of new technology. The award is open to senior academic or industrial researchers from any country, and there is no restriction on the employment background of the nominee.  The award can only be made to an individual, and a person having once received the award shall not again be eligible for nomination. In contrast to the THA, which is aimed at younger researchers, this award is aimed at researchers in the later stages of their career, with a sustained record of important contributions to NIR spectroscopy. For more information on nomination guidelines, please visit www.ICNIRS.org.

Nominations must be sent only by email to the ICNIRS President, Tom Fearn (Email: t.fearn@ucl.ac.uk) to arrive no later than March 20th, 2019.

Late nominations will not be considered for the award

Call for John Shenk Traveling Award Application - CLOSED

The ICNIRS offers travel awards for delegates to travel to the council's international conferences. They are intended as a supplement to the delegate's own resources for travel and are awarded in cases where there is a valid justification for financial support. Funding for the awards is made possible from the donation of a significant portion of the profits from the previous ICNIRS conference and is dependent on the financial success of the previous conference. We gratefully acknowledge that funding for the NIR-2019 conference in Gold Coast, Australia will be possible because of the donation of profits from the organizers of the NIR-2017 conference in Copenhagen, Denmark. Applications will be considered from anyone who can demonstrate a valid case for financial support; however, full funding of travel, accommodation and conference registration is not provided. ICNIRS will look most favorably on applicants who are full time PhD students and can obtain a substantial proportion of the necessary funds from their own sources and for whom a lack of the balance would prevent attendance. For more information on application guideline, please visit www.ICNIRS.org.

Nominations must be sent only by email to the ICNIRS Honorary Treasurer, Peter Tillman (Email: peter.tillmann@vdlufa-nirs.de) to arrive no later than March 20th, 2019.

Late applications will not be considered for the award.

Any country wishing to bid to host the upcoming International Conference of Near Infrared Spectroscopy in 2023 (NIR-2023) must notify the Council Secretary, Mui Saranwong (mui.saranwong@bruker.com) in writing (email) by 15 July 2019.
