Support for NIR2019

Dr Christine Williams

I am delighted to hear that Australia is to host the 19th meeting of the International Council for Near Infrared Spectroscopy at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre in September 2019.
I understand ICNIRS take all the necessary steps to promote advance and safeguard professional and scientific interests involved in the science and technology of near infrared spectroscopy and related fields along with organising educational and training activities in this area.
Hosting this meeting at the Gold Coast would provide the exciting opportunity to showcase Queensland science and technology in research and industry. Queensland has a strong record of supporting science and technology. Since 1998, the Queensland Government has invested more than $5 billion on science infrastructure, projects, and world-leading researchers. Building on that investment it is important to support Queensland science and build future industries.
I wish to record my support for the 19th Meeting of the International Council for Infrared Spectroscopy.
I look forward to hearing of the success of this event.
Sincerely

Dr Christine Williams
A/Queensland Chief Scientist

Tom Tate, Gold Coast City Mayor

As the Mayor of the City of Gold Coast, it gives me great pleasure to encourage you to visit the Gold Coast and participate in the 19th International Conference on Near Infrared Spectroscopy (NIR 2019).
The Gold Coast is Australia’s premier tourist destination attracting over 13 million visitors last year. We are Australia’s largest regional city with a unique combination of exceptional conference facilities, breathtaking natural attractions and an enviable lifestyle.
High calibre conferences such as 19th International Conference on Near Infrared Spectroscopy (NIR 2019) are an important contributor to our economic and social fabric. Nowhere else are you able to integrate a conference with 57 kilometres of famous beaches, 100,000 hectares of world heritage-listed rainforest, more theme parks than anywhere else in the southern hemisphere, 800 accommodation venues and more than 600 restaurants and cafes which are easily accessible via the modern and fast G:link light rail system. Together with our exciting leisure attractions and sub-tropical climate, we offer the perfect ingredients for a successful conference.
Wherever you are coming from, we are confident that the experience, resources and commitment of the Gold Coast community will make the 19th International Conference on Near Infrared Spectroscopy (NIR 2019) not only an outstanding success, but one to remember.
Our city is very pleased to be hosting the 19th International Conference on Near Infrared Spectroscopy (NIR 2019) and I am confident that you will have a rewarding conference experience. I look forward to welcoming you to the Gold Coast.

Yours sincerely

Tom Tate
Gold Coast City Mayor
