I am delighted to hear that Australia is to host the 19th meeting of the International Council for Near Infrared Spectroscopy at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre in September 2019.
I understand ICNIRS take all the necessary steps to promote advance and safeguard professional and scientific interests involved in the science and technology of near infrared spectroscopy and related fields along with organising educational and training activities in this area.
Hosting this meeting at the Gold Coast would provide the exciting opportunity to showcase Queensland science and technology in research and industry. Queensland has a strong record of supporting science and technology. Since 1998, the Queensland Government has invested more than $5 billion on science infrastructure, projects, and world-leading researchers. Building on that investment it is important to support Queensland science and build future industries.
I wish to record my support for the 19th Meeting of the International Council for Infrared Spectroscopy.
I look forward to hearing of the success of this event.
Sincerely
Dr Christine Williams
A/Queensland Chief Scientist
