Definitions of Registration Criteria

ICNIRS Member

Financial members of ICNIRS for the period 1 April 2019 to 31 March 2021 are eligible to register at the Member rate. You can apply for or renew your ICNIRS membership here.

fNIRS Member

Financial members of fNIRS are eligible to register at the Member rate for the two-day satellite meeting. Attendance at the full conference will require full registration. You can apply for or renew your fNIRS membership here.

Student

The Student conference registration rate and any Student Travel Awards (ICNIRS John Shenk Travel Award and NIR2019 Student Registration Waiver Award) are restricted to full-time students registered at a recognised degree-granting institution. Part-time students will not be eligible for Student registration or Student Travel Awards.

To be eligible for the Student conference registration rate and Student Travel Awards, proof of full-time enrolment is required by submitting a photo of your Student ID (both sides) or a transcript from your institution’s central administration.

Developing Country Resident

To qualify for the discounted rate for a Developing Country Resident you must be a full resident or citizen of one of the countries listed on the following document. To view the document please click on the below button. Proof may be required with a scanned copy of your passport.

ICNIRS John Shenk Travel Grant

This travel assistance grant is administered by the ICNIRS directly. Applications and criteria for the travel grant will open in the ICNIRS website shortly after registrations open on NIR2019. This award provides partial assistance and is awarded at the discretion of ICNIRS.

NIR2019 Registration Waiver Award

Conference organisers of NIR2019 will make available a limited number of full or half registration waiver awards to applicants on a competitive basis that meets the criteria below. The award will not cover costs for travel, accommodation or Wednesday afternoon social activities.

Selection criteria:

1. Full-time student and/or ordinary delegate from the OECD-defined developing/emerging countries list
2. Must submit an extended abstract and be accepted to present an oral or poster at the conference
3.. Write a short paragraph (100-150 words) explaining why you would like to attend ICNIRS Conference and that you will be able to fund the travel, accommodation and visa expenses to come to the Gold Coast. Email this to nir2019@yrd.com.au
4. John Shenk Travel Grant awardees will be eligible for consideration
5. The decision will be made by the grant committee
